Riot Points (formerly known as Combat Points early in the European server) is one of the two in-game currency. They can be purchased with real cash and used to buy in-game items to add convenience, additional customization options, or diversity to the experience. Examples of things that can be purchased with Riot Points are masters, alternative master skins or boosts, which are modifiers that increase the speed at which you get influence Points or Summoner experience points. Apart from buying champions and extra rune pages, both of which also purchased the influence Points Riot Points can not be used to directly affect gameplay.
Shopping Riot Points
There are several ways to choose from when purchasing Riot Points and in varying amounts.
$ 10, $ 25 and $ 50 card provides 1380RP, 3500RP and 7200RP respectively and are available at places like Best Buy, Walmart, Gamestop, 7/11 and EB Games.
You can also buy them online using a credit / debit card or via PayPal.
Receiving Riot Points
Any Summoner will receive 400 RP after reaching level 3rd
On occasion, such as server problems during Season One rotation week 40 were summoners who played that month compensated with 350 RP.
In December 2011 Riot assigned 450 RP for summoners of Level 6, there had never been banned in the previous two months.
